The High Pointe Food Pantry is excited for our new partnership with Community Lifeline and pray that we will be able to serve more people in our community. We ask for your help. High Pointe has adopted a shelf of canned fruit to keep stocked at all times. We ask that your family bring this item to the church building every week and place in the basket in the west hallway. Our goal is 100 cans a month. If your small group or ministry team is looking for a group service project, you may consider adopting your own shelf. The shelves are labeled and we saw where a grandfather adopted a shelf for his grandchildren. High Pointe will be making a monthly monetary donation.
Another need is for HP volunteers. Community Lifeline distributes groceries on Tuesdays (all day) and Thursday mornings. But with High Pointe volunteers, they were able to add Thursday afternoons. We would like to have more volunteers to open other mornings or afternoons. You may volunteer for one to two hours weekly, bi-weekly or once a month. If interested, please contact either Diane Newhouse at 214-675-5069.
The HP Clothes Closet has opened up a new partnership with the Samaritan Inn. We will be providing monetary support and volunteers to help with homelessness in Collin County. Click here to see the many ways you can partner with High Pointe and The Samaritan Inn.

Habitat for Humanity "seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action."
Habitat for Humanity partners with churches and businesses in the community to help provide housing for applicants who cannot otherwise afford it. Every Habitat Affiliate chooses it's homeowners based on the same three criteria.
1. The applicants' level of need.
2. Their willingness to become partners in the program. This includes numerous hours working to build other Habitat homes.
3. Their ability to repay the no-profit, no interest loan.
The house is sold at no profit, with much of the labor and materials donated. This gives the recipients a great new financial start with a mortgage that they can afford. Because these applicants are carefully chosen, have put in many hours of "sweat equity," and have put up a down payment on their home, they are usually very proud of and good stewards of their home, being appreciative and grateful.
There are many reasons for High Pointe members and visitors to be a part of this
An orientation class is required for all volunteers or future volunteers. If you have already taken this class you will not need to repeat it. Taking the orientation class will give you the flexibility to help whenever you do have the time. Orientation is open for anyone 16 years and older. There are so many ways to serve, there is something for everyone!
Volunteers are needed to help build houses and/or clear lots. No prior building experience is necessary--workers will be trained on the job! Our goal is to have several volunteer groups from High Pointe consisting of 10 - 20 people meeting once a month.
